Risveglio is Bethany Barrett and Jules LaPlace.  Risveglio is live cinematic music with synthesizers.  Risveglio is a worm through time.  Risveglio is horror disco and euphoric drones.  Risveglio is bass, leads, pads and arps.  Risveglio is analog and digital.  Risveglio is a moonlit walk through the statue hall.  Risveglio is the journey and the return.  Risveglio means I reawaken.

The Story of Risveglio

Bethany is a film composer and musician, who heard Jules lost in the labyrinth of computer music and offered a way out.  Our first musical overtures together began in 2019.  During this time, we created the Gun Violence Sonifications for Hito Steyerl, and played our first shows in Berlin and NYC as Magisphere.  We formed our synth band with drums, Pavone Cristallo, which we debuted in 2022.

We worked in earnest on music together during Corona, scoring many projects and also organizing regular livestreams where we honed our craft.  Risveglio grew out of these projects together, as live synthesizer music for a journey through the underworld, full of dark clouds and bursting lights.

Livestreams and Webinars

From 2021-24 or so, we had a weekly Soundcheck livestream with some friends, creating regular opportunities to build a small performance with the gear. Since 2023, we have recorded many Virtual Option Webinars, live performances accompanying the psychedelic visual streams of Seacrestcheadle.
